The Modular CAM 200 System
- The optical Contact Angle and Surface Tension Meter
How you configure your high performance CAM 200 system , depends on whether you opt for the freedom of manual measurement, or the convenience and efficiency of full automation.

- Automatic dispensers and sample stages allow hands-free contact angle and surface free energy measurement via automated placement of drops of up to four different liquids. The drop shape is captured automatically for each drop before moving to the next position.
- For sticky and/or difficult to clean samples, a single-use autopipette tip dispenser is the ideal solution.
- The fire-wire cameras are available in two frame speeds: 60fps and 100fps. The frame speed of the 100 fps camera, that gives 130 full frames per second, can be increased up to 420 fps by reducing the height of the captured image.
- Two lens alternatives are available: the standard 50 mm lens or the optional zoom lens with 0.7 - 4.5 magnification.
Features
Measurements are performed via Drop Shape Analysis using the sessile drop, pendant drop or raised drop techniques. The heart of the instrument is the high performance digital camera and optimized background illumination, providing accurate distortion free imaging of the drop and surface morphology. The spacious, open design of the CAM 200 makes it ideal for customized sample stages and environmental chambers. The modular design together with the wide range of options and accessories makes for a
highly flexible and versatile tool for research and quality control. Tens to hundreds of different configurations can be simply created by selecting the desired building blocks, as illustrated above.
Other New Features
The proprietary KSV OTD "One touch dispenser" greatly simplifies your manual dispensing. The spring mechanism together with convenient thumb wheel adjusters allows you to accurately position the needle in both horizontal and vertical directions. Once you have the needle adjusted, all you need to do is extrude a drop and push down on the dispenser button, and you have a reproducible drop on your surface. The risk of damage or contamination by touching the surface is eliminated.
The profiling of perpendicular menisces at rods or plates is now possible with the CAM 200 software. This allows determination of both contact angle and surface tension, and is particularly useful for determination of dynamic contact angles.
The new motorized tilting cradle (see accessories list) allows precise measurement of dynamic (advancing and receding) contact angles. The whole CAM 200 instrument is mounted on the tilting cradle, with the advantage that the liquid droplet is always where you expect it to be! You can also report contact angles as a function of tilt angle. The cradle is controlled with the latest free upgrade to the CAM software.
